We can divide astronomy into four sub-fields:

ASTROMETRY: This is a branch of astronomy that involves precise measurements of the positions and movements of stars and other celestial bodies. It provides the kinematics and physical origin of the Solar System and this galaxy, the Milky Way.

ASTROGEOLOGY: This is concerned with the geology of the solid bodies in the solar system, such as the rocks, terrain, materials in space, asteroids, the planets and their moons. Research in this field helps scientists to better understand the evolution of the Earth in comparison with that of its neighbours in the solar system.

ASTROBIOLOGY: This is the study of the origins, evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe. This field requires a comprehensive and integrated understanding of biological, planetary, and cosmic phenomena in order to search for life outside the earth.

Astronomy, as a general study of celestial objects and phenomena, has had a significant impact on our real-life experiences in various ways.

Here are a few ways in which astronomy has successfully reshaped our lives and our world:
